New Post!! Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice review

It's been a LONG TIME since I've posted a blog. In lieu of that, I've decided to start posting my movie reviews here.

Onto the first...

"Tell me... Do you bleed?... You will". My spoiler-free review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I just saw the movie a couple hours ago and let me just say, forget what the critics are saying that are bashing this film. First, as a comic book fan, and even a movie fan, I got chills when I finally saw Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman all occupy the same screen in a live action film. Gal Gadot is just phenomenal as Wonder Woman. She truly owns that character and makes i...t her own. However, I have to say the real star of this is Ben Affleck as Batman. When it was revealed that he was cast as Batman, I wasn't apprehensive about it, but wanted to see how he'd do first before casting any judgement. Let me say, that man just blew me away as Batman. He put so much effort into that role and it really shows the amount of time and energy he devoted to it. I seriously can not wait to see his own spin off film, and everything else he is going to be in as Batman. Michael Keaton and Christian Bale were right for their versions of the Caped Crusader, and Ben Affleck is for this one. Now, the rest of the cast were great as well, especially Henry Cavill. Seeing as this is not only a sequel to Man of Steel, but a jumping off for the new Justice League movie, Cavill knows how to play Superman. The man shows a more human side in this film and I found it to be inspiring. Jesse Eisenberg was very interesting as Lex Luthor. Not in a bad way, but a more creative way. He brought a new interpretation to the character that I thought was enjoyable. On Gal Godot as Wonder Woman, let me just say, I can't wait to see her spin off film either. DC Comics and everyone involved with casting did superb on the casting decisions in this film. Lastly, about the critics, do not let what some of them, who are bad mouthing this film, deter you from seeing it. As with any film, go see it because you want to, not because of what some critics are saying. I loved it because I'm a fan of comic books and movies in general. Anyone who knows me knows I like Batman. I'm a huge fan of the character both in literary and visual media form. I would say when his films aren't great.. ahem....that 1997 "Batman and Robin" film.

Adventure Awaits......Possibly

The bad thing with living a mundane life is nothing exciting ever happens. It's really kind of sad actually, those who want adventure, don't really achieve any, unless they like getting into trouble, and those that don't want any trouble, or the adventure, usually end up having one.

Is it bad that I want to be on an adventure? To break out of my normal routine and do something incredible? To face death one-on-one and be fearless; to act on it instead of hiding in a corner? A few years ago, I wanted to go on an adventure and try to find the actual Ark of the Covenant. I knew it wouldn't be as exciting as "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark", but I wanted to find it, just to cement my name in history. To rediscover it for mankind and actually see what it holds. It still excites me to think about it! All the research I did and information I gathered, it seems silly now, but to do it was exhilarating.

I still want my adventure. And who says it has to be only one? These adventures could entail finding real love, saving a life, or even discovering something. In reality, I need to be thankful that I don't have to risk my life everyday. I should be happy to work a normal security job, where I'm not threatened all the time. Still, it's always fun to think about doing something extradionary.

Regrets

You can't let regrets hold you back in this life. I live with the regret that I pushed away my best friend in this world. She won't even talk to me anymore. I have to live with my stupidity, I get that. But don't let regrets hold you back from doing what you want in this life. Someday, maybe life will work itself out. But for now, I'll take each day one step at a time, and hope for a better tomorrow.

Been a While

It's been a long time since I've posted anything. These past few weeks have been intense, insane, and incredible. I'm still writing my novel, but have also moved on to writing a screenplay. I'm also trying to decide on what I'm doing for my future.
There's a good chance I might be moving to Japan to teach English as a second language. It's a bit unexpected, but the oppourtunity has come up, plus I would get to go with the most incredible girl on the planet. It's a win-win for me.

So that's what's up right now. I'll post more later.

Revisions!

Okay.  So I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but the past few weeks have been insane.  I went on vacation for a week with the family.  We went to Tybee Island here in Georgia.  It was epic.  The house where we stayed was awesome and it was only two blocks form the beach. I went to the beach and walked and swam everyday.  Even got up early and watched the sun rise.  Awesomeness doesn't even begin to describe it.

Now, on to my news.  I have been working on my novel, another reason why I've been busy, and have started some revisions to the story and characters.  As I read the first three chapters, I realized, this thing sucks.  So I started re-writing and looking at some other things I've written in the past and did some major combining.  I can honestly say I'm even more exicted about the way the story has come out then before.  I didn't expect it to be this good.  The twist, I think, is awesome, and I never really know where it can go from here.  I'll be getting some help in the fall with structure and characters, so that'll be great.  Then, hopefully, I'll be able to finish it and see what happens.

The biggest thing with the revisions is I'm bring more of an edge to the novel then I have previously envisioned.  Yes, murder is terrible enough, but why go for that extra push?  The reason being, I believe, the audience wants that.  They want to be intrigued by the story you write and how your present it.  If an anuthor doesn't grab his or her audience within the first few lines of the book, then I beleive they didn't do their job.  Also, I want to make the characters really relatable.  I want people to be able to connect and understand what is going on in their world and have a sense of kinsmenship with the protagionists.

Anywho, I'll be sure to write back more later.  IT's taking a while to do things lately, and writing has been slow.  But I need to stay on it if this is what I want to do in my life.  Wish me luck.  Until next time.

Writing tips

I know I'm not a professional writer. I'm far from it.  But I just wanted to share something good that helped me out tonight.  I got bad writer's block.  It got me in about the middle of the chapter.  I quit writing, got up, and took a walk around my campus, where I happen to be basing the story, but fictionalized of course. The walk really helped me figure out where my characters were going and what would happen in the story.  It brought a lot of clarity because there is so much I want to put into the story, but I have to remind myself to hold it back and wait for the right moments in it to give clues and insights.  It's a working progress and I really feel like I'm investigating the murder along with my characters.  It's a great feeling because I'm not quite sure where I'm going with it, because even my own characters are showing me sides of themselves I didn't know about.  That's a good thing right?  Anyway, one more chapter an dthen I start the revisions.  I'm also going to send it to a few fellow writers and such.  Until next time.

Chapter 2

It's been a long night, but I finally got the second chapter to my novel written.  It's turning out better then I expected.  I'm going to write a third and maybe a forth chapter, give some copies to some friends, and let them critique the crap out of it.  Criticism is a big part of any writing project, and I need to hear it despite how harsh it might be.  I'm actualy looking forward to it.  Creepy huh?  But, Chapter 2 is finished.  On to Chapter 3 and 4.
